Are Cin7 Core and Cin7 Omni the same product?
No. They are two products sold by one company. Cin7 Core is documented at help.core.cin7.com and Cin7 Omni at help.omni.cin7.com, and the two help centres describe different screens, different settings and different integration behaviour for the same-sounding task. Cin7 Core is the product that was DEAR Systems. Cin7 Omni is the older Cin7 product, still listed under the plain name Cin7 on review directories such as Capterra, which is one reason the two get conflated in search results.
Cin7’s own comparison post calls Core “our turnkey inventory management solution” for businesses that want “an out-of-the-box solution”, and calls Omni “our advanced, highly customizable solution built for brands that need to manage stock in real time over multiple channels”.
The practical consequence is unglamorous and expensive. Roughly half of what you read about “Cin7 and Shopify” is about the other product, and the parts that differ are exactly the parts a B2B seller cares about: which price reaches the storefront, how stock is split across locations, and what the built-in B2B module can do.
Checked against: Cin7: Core or Omni, which one is right for your business, Cin7 Core help centre, Cin7 Omni help centre, Capterra still lists Cin7 Omni as “Cin7”
What changes for a B2B storefront depending on which Cin7 you run?
Each cell below comes from the help centre for that product, read on 20 August 2026. Where a product’s documentation is silent we say so rather than assuming the other product’s behaviour carries across.
| Criterion | Cin7 Core | Cin7 Omni |
|---|---|---|
| Price sent to ShopifyNeither product sends a per-customer price to a standard Shopify storefront. That is the same answer on both sides. | One tier per store. The Shopify settings screen has a Sale price tier, and that tier becomes the price when you list or update a product. | One tier per store. Each product’s price at the configured tier becomes “the Price of the mapped Shopify product”, or the Compare At Price when a special price is running. |
| Price tier ceiling | Documented: “Cin7 Core lets you set up to 10 price points for each individual product.” | Not documented. The Price and cost tiers article states that names must be unique and gives no maximum, which is not the same as saying there is none. |
| Stock across locationsOmni’s model is closer to what a multi-warehouse distributor expects out of the box. | Quantity is computed from the Cin7 Core locations a product is mapped to, falling back to the location you nominate for online sales. | Branches map to Shopify locations, and “each Shopify location will take its stock level from the Cin7 Omni branch or branches it’s mapped to”. |
| Built-in B2B module | B2B portal. Cin7’s setup article states it “requires an add-on to your base subscription per portal”. | B2B online store, installed from the App Store. Legacy B2B (v1) reaches end of life on 23 November 2026. |
| EDI and 3PLIf a large retail customer is about to hand you an EDI requirement, this row is the whole decision. | 3PL through an add-on, per Cin7’s own Core-or-Omni comparison. | Cin7 describes “native EDI and 3PL integrations” and “700+ integrations, open API”. |
| Order download from Shopify | Orders sync when the capture threshold you set is reached: created, paid or fulfilled. | Shopify settings include automatic order download every two hours, with payment status filtering and fraud warning detection. |
| Third-party B2B layer on Shopify | SparkLayer publishes a documented Cin7 Core integration covering customers, price lists and orders. | SparkLayer’s Cin7 page names Cin7 Core. We found no SparkLayer documentation for Omni, so treat Omni plus SparkLayer as unproven rather than as ruled out. |

Which business does Cin7 itself point at each product?
Cin7’s comparison post puts Core in front of “start-ups and growing businesses” that want “robust, out-of-the-box features”, and names “made-to-order companies” as a fit. It puts Omni in front of “scaling and enterprise-level brands” and “expanding e-commerce brands” with “complex workflows”. Cin7’s Omni solution page adds that Omni suits “businesses with complex operations, such as multi-entity companies, those requiring advanced e-commerce integrations, or those needing more intricate automation and customization features”.
Read that as vendor segmentation, because that is what it is. It tells you where Cin7 is investing and which product its support organisation is shaped around, and it is genuinely useful for that. It tells you nothing about whether your contract pricing, your Multi-warehouse availability is showing a buyer what is in stock for them specifically, based on which warehouse or warehouses can actually serve their order, rather than a single company-wide total. or your approval workflow fits, and those are the questions that sink projects.
One asymmetry is worth naming. Cin7 lists advanced manufacturing, production planning and BOM traceability under Core rather than Omni, and lists EDI, 3PL and multi-entity support under Omni. A manufacturer with a single entity and a big retail customer can therefore find its manufacturing needs on one side of the line and its channel needs on the other.

What does the Legacy B2B end of life on 23 November 2026 mean if you run Cin7 Omni?
Cin7 Omni’s end-of-life article lists three items dated 23 November 2026: Legacy B2B (v1), Products v1 and CRM v1. On Legacy B2B it says “Legacy B2B uses technology that is no longer supported or compatible with the Cin7 Omni platform”, and points users at the newer B2B online store, which it describes as mobile-friendly with secure login and promotions.
We read that page on 20 August 2026, which puts the date about three months out. If your wholesale customers order through Legacy B2B today, you have a forced move whether or not commerce was on this year’s plan. The real decision is not whether to move, it is whether to move sideways onto the Omni B2B online store or to use the deadline to go to a storefront that can also carry content, search and public discovery.
Cin7 is candid about the scope of the replacement. Its install article says “We’ve built and designed the B2B site for wholesale sales in particular, so you may find some of the B2C functionality you would expect missing from it.” That is an accurate description of a wholesale ordering tool, and it is the sentence to weigh if you were hoping the replacement would double as your public website.

When is the honest answer neither Cin7 Core nor Cin7 Omni?
Sometimes the product question is the wrong question, because no version of Cin7 is going to be the thing that decides your prices or holds your buying rules. Here is where we would stop comparing Core and Omni and go and look at a storefront plus Middleware is a layer of software that sits between the ERP and the storefront, translating and enforcing rules that neither system holds on its own. It can be a hosted integration platform or a custom service. instead.
A caution about our own confidence, because it matters more here than anywhere else in this Library. Acro’s internal capability record for Cin7 Core carries a staleness flag on part of its grading, and a block of top grades that rest on an assumed architecture Cin7’s published documentation does not confirm. We would rather tell you that than quote you a grade we cannot defend. Treat every Cin7 claim on this page as good only against its cited source and its read date of 20 August 2026, and prove the ones that decide your project in your own tenant.
Your prices are negotiated per account rather than banded into tiers, and there are more of them than a tier list can hold. Neither Cin7 product sends a per-customer price to a standard Shopify or BigCommerce storefront natively.
Buyers at one customer need different permissions, so a purchasing clerk raises the order and a manager releases it. Neither product’s B2B documentation describes buyer roles inside a A company account is a customer record that holds several people, each with their own login and their own permissions. One buyer might place orders, another might only approve them, a third might only look up past invoices..
You sell in more than one currency to the same catalogue. Cin7 Core’s B2B portal settings article documents no currency control, and we could not verify multi-currency either way on the Omni B2B online store.
Your website has to do marketing work as well as order-taking, with search, technical content and public product pages. Cin7 says plainly that its B2B site is built for wholesale rather than for B2C behaviour.
You need Punchout is a way for a buyer to shop on a supplier’s website from inside their own procurement system. The buyer clicks out, builds a cart, and the cart is returned to their system as a requisition for approval. into a customer’s procurement system. Neither help centre documents cXML or OCI punchout, and we found no evidence of it on either side.

How do you tell which Cin7 you are on in two minutes?
Do this before you read one more comparison page, including this one. Nearly every Cin7 argument we get pulled into turns out to be two people describing two products.
Click any in-app help link. If it takes you to help.core.cin7.com you are on Cin7 Core. If it takes you to help.omni.cin7.com you are on Cin7 Omni.
Look for price tier naming. Cin7 Core edits tier names under Settings, then General Settings, then Price Tier Names. Cin7 Omni calls the same idea Price and Cost Tiers.
Look for an App Store in the left navigation. Cin7 Omni installs its B2B online store from there. Cin7 Core’s B2B portal is a subscription add-on instead.
Check your subscription invoice for the product name and for a per-portal B2B line, because that line is what tells you whether the portal is already paid for.
Ask your Cin7 partner which product family your account sits in, and ask them to say Core or Omni out loud. If the answer is just “Cin7”, you have not got an answer.

The wider picture
This page answers one narrow question. Acro Commerce covers the strategy around it.
Common questions
- Is Cin7 Core the same as DEAR Systems?
- Cin7 Core is the product formerly sold as DEAR Systems, which is why older DEAR support articles and community answers still describe screens you will recognise in Cin7 Core. It is documented at help.core.cin7.com. Cin7 Omni is a separate product with its own help centre at help.omni.cin7.com, and DEAR-era material does not apply to it.
- Does Cin7 Omni have the same 10 price tier limit as Cin7 Core?
- Cin7 Core’s documentation states it “lets you set up to 10 price points for each individual product”, so the ceiling is explicit there. Cin7 Omni’s Price and cost tiers article gives no maximum and only requires that tier names be unique. An undocumented limit is not the same as no limit, so if you need more than 10 bands on Omni, confirm it with Cin7 in writing before you design around it.
- We run Cin7 Omni and we are being pushed towards Cin7 Core. What happens to our B2B store?
- A move from Omni to Core is a move to a different B2B module, not a migration of the same one. Omni’s B2B online store is installed from the Omni App Store; Core’s B2B portal is a paid add-on to the base subscription, licensed per portal, with its own settings, its own catalogue setup and its own customer invitations. Budget the B2B rebuild as its own piece of work rather than as a line in the ERP migration, and check what happens to your existing portal order history before you commit.
- Which Cin7 works with Shopify B2B?
- Both Cin7 Core and Cin7 Omni have documented Shopify integrations, and neither help centre describes creating or maintaining Shopify B2B companies, catalogues or price lists. What both do is push one chosen price tier as the Shopify price and push stock into Shopify locations. If you want Shopify B2B catalogue pricing driven from Cin7, that comes from a third-party app such as SparkLayer, which documents Cin7 Core, or from middleware you own.
- Does it matter which Cin7 we run if we are building a custom storefront anyway?
- Yes, because the two products have different data models and different APIs, and your integration is written against one of them. Branch-to-location stock mapping, price tier structure, order capture behaviour and customer sync direction all differ between Core and Omni. Any integration estimate that does not name the product is an estimate for the wrong system half the time.
