Cin7 and B2B commerce
Cin7 comes in two products that are not the same system: Cin7 Core, formerly DEAR, and Cin7 Omni. Both do inventory and order management well, both integrate with Shopify, and neither was designed to be the pricing engine behind a contract-priced B2B storefront.
Cin7 Core vs Cin7 Omni for B2B ecommerce: which one are you actually on?
Cin7 Core and Cin7 Omni are two different products with two separate help centres, two separate Shopify integrations and two different B2B modules, so the answer to almost any Cin7 commerce question changes depending on which one you run. Cin7 Core documents a ceiling of 10 price points per product and pushes one chosen price tier to Shopify; Cin7 Omni maps its branches to Shopify locations, ships EDI and 3PL natively, and retires its Legacy B2B module on 23 November 2026.Is the Cin7 Core B2B portal enough, or do you need a real B2B storefront?
The Cin7 Core B2B portal gives invited customers a catalogue, one price tier, CSV quick order, matrix bulk ordering, reorder, backorders, PDF invoices and sales rep ordering, with no integration work at all. For a wholesaler whose buyers already know their part numbers it is frequently the correct answer. It is not free, it requires an add-on to your base subscription per portal, and Cin7’s own settings documentation caps product images at 10 and covers neither multi-currency nor separate logins per buyer inside one customer account. How does Cin7 contract pricing reach a Shopify or BigCommerce storefront?
Cin7 Core holds up to 10 price points per product, plus custom prices per customer that override those tiers, and its native Shopify integration sends exactly one nominated tier as the Shopify price when you list or update a product. Customer-specific pricing does not make that trip natively: it arrives through Shopify B2B catalogues, a third-party app such as SparkLayer, or middleware you own, and Cin7 Core’s BigCommerce integration carries only two tiers, mapped to BigCommerce’s regular price and sale price. Can Cin7 Core hold one stock truth across DTC, wholesale and marketplaces?
Yes by design, with named exceptions. Cin7 states that “stock levels are always pushed from Cin7 Core to Shopify, never from Shopify to Cin7 Core”, and Cin7 Core computes each Shopify location’s quantity from the Cin7 Core locations that product is mapped to. It breaks in four documented places: finished-goods availability ignores raw materials and components, buffer inventory deliberately publishes a number that is not the real one, the BigCommerce integration exposes one Cin7 Core location per store, and no Cin7 document states a single sync interval.
