Shopware vs BigCommerce B2B Edition for Acumatica users

One fact carries most of this comparison: Acumatica builds and maintains a native BigCommerce connector and names no Shopware connector at all. Acumatica 2026 R1 added importing BigCommerce companies for B2B commerce. So BigCommerce is the supported path, and Shopware has to be worth commissioning and maintaining an integration that no vendor owns.

What single fact decides Shopware against BigCommerce B2B Edition for Acumatica?

Acumatica owns one of these integrations and has never mentioned the other. Acumatica’s commerce connectors page, read 20 August 2026, names native connectors for Amazon, Shopify and BigCommerce. Its BigCommerce page invites you to "Connect BigCommerce B2B Edition with Acumatica to easily sync company accounts, customer details, and complex orders". Acumatica’s 2026 R1 release page lists "Import BigCommerce Companies for B2B Commerce" as a shipped feature. The word Shopware appears on none of them.

That is not a small procedural difference. It decides who fixes the integration after an Acumatica release, whose roadmap it sits on, and whether an Acumatica VAR can put it in front of a client without underwriting it personally. There is no Acumatica-validated Shopware connector today, and that shapes how partners behave regardless of technical fit.

So the honest framing of this page is not "which platform is better". It is: what would Shopware have to be worth for you to give up a vendor-maintained integration? The rest of the page answers that in one direction and then in the other.

Checked against: Acumatica commerce connectors: Amazon, Shopify and BigCommerce, no Shopware, read 20 August 2026, Acumatica for BigCommerce: sync company accounts, customer details and complex orders, read 20 August 2026, Acumatica 2026 R1: Import BigCommerce Companies for B2B Commerce, read 20 August 2026, Shopware Store search for Acumatica, no products found, read 20 August 2026

What does the Acumatica BigCommerce connector actually do, and what does it leave you?

Being maintained is not the same as being complete, and a fair comparison has to say so. The Acumatica BigCommerce connector synchronizes, in Acumatica’s own words, "inventory, item, and order details seamlessly and automatically between BigCommerce stores and Acumatica", plus product information and, since 2026 R1, BigCommerce companies for B2B commerce.

What it does not do is resolve the price Acumatica itself would calculate for a customer at order entry. In Acumatica community thread 11823, asked on 2021 R2, the answer was that the Customer Price Class entity "will update groups of customers in BigCommerce store (Customers>Customer Groups), but not the prices", and that to move prices you prepare and process the Price List entity manually or on a schedule, normally overnight. Prices on the storefront are as fresh as the last run.

That matters for the comparison in a specific way. BigCommerce’s advantage over Shopware here is ownership and support, not pricing fidelity. If your problem is that a stored, pre-computed price is not good enough, a maintained connector does not solve it, and you are back to comparing what each platform lets you build.

One more piece of context that cuts against BigCommerce. The B2B half of this connector is newer than the connector itself: importing BigCommerce companies for B2B commerce is listed as a 2026 R1 feature, and 2026 R1 reached general availability in March 2026. So the company-account behaviour has months of field history, not years. A vendor-maintained connector is a strong argument, and it is not a promise that the B2B path is settled.

Shopware and BigCommerce B2B Edition, row by row, with Acumatica behind them

One claim per cell, read from vendor documentation or from a named Acumatica community thread on 20 August 2026. Where a Shopware capability sits behind a plan, the plan is named, because that is where budgets get ambushed.

The first two rows are the whole argument. Everything below them is detail that only matters once you have answered those.

Shopware and BigCommerce B2B Edition behind Acumatica. Checked 20 August 2026.

Who maintains the Acumatica integrationThis row favours BigCommerce and no feature on the rest of the table cancels it out. It changes it only if you need something BigCommerce cannot express at all.A firm you hire. Acumatica names no Shopware connector, the Shopware Store returns nothing for "Acumatica", and there is no Acumatica-validated Shopware connector today.Acumatica. The B2B half is recent: importing BigCommerce companies for B2B commerce is listed as a 2026 R1 feature.
Effective price from a Sales Price WorksheetThis is the row that justifies a Shopware build when it is justified at all.No connector, so it is a design decision. Shopware is open source, so a service can resolve a price for this customer and this item at render time, with caching and a defined fallback. Not resolved. Community 11823: price classes move customer groups, prices move through the Price List entity on a schedule.
Company accounts and buyer rolesCloser than most comparisons admit. BigCommerce B2B Edition is a genuinely capable B2B account model.Employee Management from 6.5.6.0, with employees associated with a company customer and roles that define their permissions. Evolve and above.Company accounts with configurable user roles, plus your own sales agents modelled as super admins and sales staff.
Approval chain and departmental budgetsOrder Approvals from 6.5.8.0, Organisation Units for departments with their own addresses and payment methods, and Budget Management from 6.7.4.0. Evolve and above.Roles and permissions on the company account. No documented departmental budget object with reset cycles.
Buyer-initiated quotingA near tie, and one of the few places BigCommerce matches Shopware natively. Do not let a vendor tell you otherwise.Quote Management: the buyer raises a request from the cart, the merchant can discount individual items, and an accepted quote becomes an order. Evolve and above.Sales quotes are a named B2B Edition feature, requesting a quote is a documented buyer-portal workflow, and there is a Quote REST API.
Credit limit enforced before the order is placedBigCommerce documents that existing orders and open invoices do not reduce available credit, so keeping that figure honest against Acumatica is integration work on both platforms. We found no native credit-limit hold in Shopware’s documented commercial features. Blocking checkout is a Rule Builder condition acting on data you supply from Acumatica.Partly native. When purchase limits are on, the purchase order payment method is disabled above available credit, and a credit hold blocks transactions other than invoice payments.
Multi-warehouse stock in the storefrontMulti-Inventory with warehouse groups and priorities, listed under Shopware Beyond, which is quote-only. The documentation describes no allocation algorithm.Inventory locations, four on Standard through 100 on Enterprise, with Stencil storefront queries returning the default location unless you request an aggregated model.

When is Shopware still the right call against a maintained BigCommerce connector?

Three conditions. If none of them is true for you, take the maintained connector and spend the difference on your catalogue.

The first is Contract pricing is a price that applies to one customer or one group of customers rather than to everyone. In B2B it is normal for the same product to have a different price for every account on the book. that has to be calculated rather than looked up. BigCommerce reaches customer-specific pricing through customer groups and price lists, which are stored values written in advance by a scheduled job. If the correct price depends on the customer, the quantity and the day, no schedule length fixes that, and Shopware being open source is the difference between a workaround and a design.

The second is governance depth. Departmental budgets with reset cycles, organisation units carrying their own addresses and payment methods, and an approval chain the buying organization configures for itself are Shopware features and not BigCommerce ones. If your customers are hospital groups, school boards or multi-site contractors, this is the row that decides it.

The third is control of the stack, whether for data residency, for a regulated category, or because you intend to run one storefront in front of several back-office systems. Shopware being self-hostable is the whole point in those cases.

Notice what is not on this list. Catalogue size, page speed, design flexibility and international selling are not reasons to prefer Shopware over BigCommerce. Both handle them.

Who should not choose Shopware over BigCommerce B2B Edition?

Acro Commerce is a Shopware Platinum Partner. This list exists because a comparison from an interested party is worth nothing unless it names the cases where the house pick loses, and here it loses often.

Seven situations where we would put an Acumatica seller on BigCommerce B2B Edition.

  • Your VAR or your internal IT will only support what Acumatica supports. There is no Acumatica-validated Shopware connector today, and that objection is legitimate rather than lazy.

  • A nightly price-list push is genuinely good enough. If it is, the BigCommerce connector already does it and you are paying Shopware licensing plus a build for the same outcome.

  • Your budget cannot carry Evolve, listed from €2,400 a month excluding VAT, before any development starts.

  • You need per-warehouse stock and cannot enter a quote-only pricing conversation. Shopware Multi-Inventory is a Beyond feature.

  • Quoting is your main requirement. BigCommerce B2B Edition ships sales quotes, a buyer-portal request workflow and a Quote API, so Shopware’s advantage here is narrow.

  • Nobody will own the integration after go-live. A maintained connector degrades noisily and an unowned custom one degrades quietly.

  • You want software as a service with a custom ERP connector. Shopware cannot give you both, because plugins cannot be installed in Cloud shops.

The wider picture

This page answers one narrow question. Acro Commerce covers the strategy around it.

Common questions

Does Acumatica have a native BigCommerce connector?
Yes. Acumatica’s commerce connectors page names native connectors for Amazon, Shopify and BigCommerce, and its BigCommerce page describes connecting BigCommerce B2B Edition to Acumatica to sync company accounts, customer details and complex orders. Acumatica 2026 R1 added importing BigCommerce companies for B2B commerce. Read 20 August 2026.
Does Acumatica have a native Shopware connector?
No. The word Shopware does not appear on Acumatica’s commerce connectors page as of 20 August 2026, and a Shopware Store search for "Acumatica" returns no products. Integrations exist from agencies and integration-platform vendors, including one Codeless Platforms sells on its BPA Platform, but none is maintained by Acumatica or by Shopware.
Does the BigCommerce connector sync Acumatica contract prices?
Not the calculated effective price. In Acumatica community thread 11823 the answer was that the Customer Price Class entity updates customer groups in BigCommerce but not the prices, and that prices move through the Price List entity processed manually or on a schedule. So storefront prices are as current as the last run, which is usually overnight.
Is BigCommerce B2B Edition as capable as Shopware B2B Components?
On company accounts, roles and quoting, close enough that the difference rarely decides a project. BigCommerce ships company accounts, configurable roles, sales quotes and a Quote API. Where Shopware pulls clearly ahead is departmental budgets with reset cycles, organisation units and a buyer-configured approval chain, and where it pulls ahead structurally is that you can run your own code and resolve a price at render time.
What does Shopware cost compared with BigCommerce B2B Edition?
Shopware publishes its plans: Community free and self-hosted, Rise from €600 a month excluding VAT, Evolve from €2,400, and Beyond by quotation, with B2B Components requiring Evolve and Multi-Inventory requiring Beyond. BigCommerce quotes B2B Edition commercially rather than publishing one number. The larger difference is the integration, which is included on the BigCommerce side and commissioned on the Shopware side.
